My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Order in the house

I am talking about
The Berry House!

After a bit of weeding,
Even the strawberries got a tidy up.

a load of compost,
pruning of the old berries,
planting of the new sticks,
a bit of mulching,
and some time to reminisce...

TA DA!

Go, you good sticks!

  3. I do like this berry house arrangement. Thinking I need one here.

  4. I was thinking the "house" must be to keep birds away from your fruit. We can't grow raspberries here. They would fry - or maybe stew.

  5. Do you call the fruit plants "sticks" in Australia? We use the term "canes". Presumably the same thing?
My Raspberry 'canes' are just beginning to set some fruit. They are a late-fruiting primocane variety called Autumn Bliss.

  7. We call them canes here too, Mark. 'Go you good canes' and 'Berry caney situation' just isn't as funny. LOL
