I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!
I'm with you on this one Hazel! But even veg can have nice flowers. What about bean flowers? What about pea-flowers? And of course if you leave your kale to flower it will be spectacular.
That's my kinda flower! But the fragrance just can't compare LOL ! I've brought flowering broccolini indoors in a vase and had the little ones walk around the kitchen saying 'poo! what is that smell!' They look lovely though.
I didn't make a note when I planted these. I think they are the big headed type of broccoli...but if harvested and left, the plant will put out side shoots anyway.
So many great details in nature. You just have to look for them!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, but I do love my flowers!
ReplyDeletealways love your plant studies, it gives such dimension to the everyday - beauty is there if we but see.
ReplyDeleteI want that too. But I guess we have to eat edible calendula in salad at the moment.
ReplyDeleteAs nice as those are, I can't bear the thought of not having flowers in my life. Your photographs are always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Hazel, I'm so jealous, mine don't look anywhere near as good as your broccoli. Love the photos too.

Hazel is this big headed broccoli or the type that re-sprouts? Beautiful photos of your vegies as well as the farm on your header.

ReplyDeleteAgree completely! We've been eating broccoli from the garden, and I think they're beautiful to look at, as well as to eat!
