I fed them chook-poo recently,
but this is still as good as they get.
My 'Fat Bastard' asparagus,
has put on some girth
but I don't expect to have any spears
worth eating come Spring.
Oh well, once established,
I am assured I will be eating
asparagus for years.
I hope so!
how long have they been in? i have limited experience with asparagus(this is my first year but mine where transplants) but i would think it might take a couple of seasons to get fatter still yummy eating thou
ReplyDeleteHi, looking promising.Gardeners of old believed an asparagus bed needed 5 years to establish!!!
ReplyDeleteSince Blogger no longer loves me I'm over at wordpress at The Life of Von should you wish to visit. It was an abrupt parting and I couldn't let my followers know but I'm popping in to some to inform them personally. All the best.....
Mine have been in for 2 years and I planted Mary Washingtons, I'm getting some fatter spears now but one plant is stubbornly only doing skinnies!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were talking about your hands, well at least for the first two lines.
ReplyDeletePatience, Hazel, patience! Good things come to those who wait.
ReplyDeleteIt will definitely be well worth the wait, I'm sure.
