My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Home again

I've been camping on wonderful Phillip Island with darling daughter and grandsons.  The Little Penguins and Koalas never fail to engender wonder at our amazing Aussie wildlife.  Churchill Island with its heritage homestead and all manner of traditional farming experiences and fabulous kitchen garden is highly recommended.  If you are down that way do not miss the pelican feeding at San Remo next to the Fishermen's Co-op.  Not only do the pelicans arrive for lunch so do huge table-top sized stingrays who come to clean up what the pelicans don't eat.  It is free and the fish and chips at the co-op's cafe can't be beaten!

I have come home to an absolute jungle in the veggie patch...two paths disappeared under rampant trombocini vine...still no fruit though.  Enormous ripe tomatoes in the greenhouse, beans every-which way,  pumpkins pumpkining ... and much more.  Looking forward to dinner tonight!

No photos...the camera died.  This is the third one I have killed from overuse! I will post some photos once the lack of camera is rectified.

  2. What a great holiday!!!! I have no qualms about posting without photos...but then again, I am a lazy blogger!

I am so sold on the idea of greenhouse/hothouse. We have plans of building one ourselves, but the to-do list is very long so the idea of purchasing one and having it put up is sounding more and more attractive.

  3. Welcome home. We go to Phillip Island often but we haven't done Churchill island for a while. I can't remember the kitchen garden there. Must visit again. Fantastic to come home to a full garden.
