I bought a copy of the Burke's Backyard Magazine recently
and it came with free tomato seeds.
WINTER TOMATOES.
A couple of them are tall - one can grow up to 3 metres tall.
There is a black cherry and one that is supposed to set fruit
in temperatures as low as 3 degrees C.
I planted half of them yesterday
and will put the rest in later in the month.
I am excited!
I think I might have to host a party
in the greenhouse in Winter...
a Tomato Party!
I do think tomatoes are just my favorite garden item. Good luck with these.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder Hazel! We did these last year with great success and will do them again.
ReplyDeleteWell Im coming, cos I crave a 'real' tomatoe in the middle of Winter.....wonder where I can try some of these tomatoe seeds..? I shall have to investigate.
ReplyDeleteI also got some winter varieties but my neighbour gave them to me from a magazine she said..maybe the same one
ReplyDeleteOhhhh maybe I should go out and get me some of these, then we can have two parties one at your place and one at mine. Lol

Oooooh! I'm intrigued! Can you get the seeds without the magazine, I wonder? I'd love to try this!
ReplyDeleteI have some of Don Burke's "Winter Tomatoes" too and plan to plant them this year ~ shall be interesting to see how well they fare in our -0*C mid-winter temps!
ReplyDeleteAt least the sun still shines during the day...that should help, right? ;)
