My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Fat Fruit Friday # 9 - Tomatoes

I am so disappointed with these photos.
They do not do justice to the tomato.
You can sort of tell how tall it is
by the size of the chair.

Not only is it tall...it is strong!
Look at the girth of those stems.

Here is the one in the garden (they are both grafted Grosse Lisse).
This one is doing very well for a tomato
at this time of the year in Melbourne.
However, it is only half the size of the one in the greenhouse.

This one is climbing
up the racks.

There are three
BroadRipple tomatoes
in this basket.
I had planned to take two out
and plant them outside...
but I ran out of time.

We ate some of the salad greens
from the polystyrene box last night.
The first food
from the greenhouse.
Yay!

Footnote:  These photos are a week old...te tomtoes are prbably up to the roof and going out the vent!

  1. I wondered how you could be photographing tomatoes from across the ocean! Is the Cook on notice to take pictures as well as water the garden?

  2. What's your opinion on the merits of grafted tomatoes as opposed to ones grown from seed?

  4. Mark...I do't have an opinion about grafted tomatoes...this is the first time I have tried them. If they go well, I may have a go at grafting my own. It can't be that hard.
