My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

The garden path up.

No, it isn't a typo...
it is NOT meant to read, 'Up the garden path'.

Here is the said path....
Overgrown and uneven due to roots of trees.

I want to widen and realign the path.
The new path will be gravel with a brick edge.
It will lead from the arch to the outdoor living area.

Here is the path...well, here is where the path was.

This is looking the other way from the arch to the outdoor kitchen.

The new path will be wider, curved differently,
and plantings along its edges
will obscure this view of the ODK...
a little treat to be discovered as you walk the walk.

Now who ripped up this path...

FOO DID!
The Cook and I (mainly the Cook)
moved and stacked 288 bricks.
Unfortunately, I will have to pay for her help
by putting up with her moans about
her sore muscles for the next few days!
Small price!

  1. That's going to look great Hazel!
Shifting bricks is the WORST job! Poor Cook!

I too am partial to brick edged gravel paths as you know... We have a constant supply of recycled bricks we buy off ebay!

  3. I love curvy paths with the plants growing over each side, makes them look like they have been there for ages, with bits of moss growing on the path....magical!

  4. I like the idea of coming round a corner to suddenly see a view of the ODK. The path is not going to be built to an ancient "Roman" design then...

  5. Moving 288 bricks is a big job! I like that you counted them.. :)
