My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Quality Control

The Cook cut up some smaller firewood yesterday.
I was feeling a little poorly and was inside.
She commented on how 'curious' the goats were
and came in to get the camera.

The Cook sometimes forgets that the goats are on my payroll.
It wasn't curiosity... they were under orders and keeping tabs on her
to make sure she did a good enough job.

Bazza making sure there is a full load.
Testing the quality of  the actual wood.

As you can see, Bazza, particularly, is a dedicated worker
and very thorough.

If you would like to hire these excellent employees
for a time and motion study
or to carry out a quality assurance survey
please leave a message below.

I cannot recommend them highly enough
and I will happily post them to you,
anywhere in the world,
if you put your request in writing.

Please DO NOT click on the 'livestock' or 'goats' tabs in the sidebar before making your request.

  1. Good luck with that Hazel. Somewhere in the world there may be someone born yesterday. LOL.

  2. Looks as if she was entering the results of her quality assurance in her "logs"!

Although I've never had goats, they always seems so curious and friendly. I like that.

  3. I've gone through 3 fences to make my garden chicken proof, I shudder to think how much work goat-proofing a yard is! But I would let those sweet faces visit anytime.. maybe on a leash. ;)

  7. WE have so small backyard. Bazza will get bored with nothing to inspect after just 10 minutes.

  8. Dear Hazel, thank you so much for the offer. It's true the garden has become somewhat overgrown, but I fear Bazza might be too enthusiastic in clearing it. So regretfully (and relievably) reject your kind offer. Cheers, catmint

  9. Now following your wonderful blog! I do have a question, though. What is a chook?

  10. *whisper* I fear the 'you might also like' links at the bottom of this article might be giving the game away that they're not always quite such helpful and well behaved little cuties!

  11. Hazel, I am really enjoying your changing header photos :) This was such a fun post to read on my lazy Sunday morning. I wish you weren't half a world away, I'd love to hire the goats as my husband unit could use some overseeing! :)

  13. Well, I must admit to being a tad disappointed that no-one was interested in the services of Bazza and Bubba...Oh well I suppose, they will have to remain on my payroll for a while long.

For Miss Possum and all the non-aussie...'Chook' is Autralian slang for chickens..not baby chicks...the whole Chicken family. We don't keep chickens or hens over here...we keep Chooks. You can also accuse someone of acting like a chook, or being an 'old chook'...It is sort of a friendly nickname..but a bit denegrating at the same time. Mmmm! Like an insult give with love. :-)

  14. Send them to me...send them to me, they can mow the next door neighbours backyard...they hardly mow and are horders, no wonder I get rats in the roof. Bazza & Bubba can jump the fence and come back in time dinner with Bailey. I need a good laugh at the moment and I think they will do that with what they get up to!
