My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

I can feel a glut coming on!

Note the 'horse eggs' around each mound.

This is part of the 'no dig' pumpkin patch.  I have planted corn near each group of pumpkins.  I know from experience that it is hard to tell where to direct the water, once the pumpkin vines begin running together.  This way I will just water at the base of the corn.

Corn and pumpkin are also good companion plants.

I may even plant some beans to grow up the corn once it is a little larger.  I have planted a lot of pumpkins because they keep so well over the winter.

The two 'early variety' tomato seedlings I bought are living up to their name and both have good sized fruit on them already.

My home grown tomato seedlings are doing well too and are using the macrame trellis confidently.

There is a veritable forest of carrots.

Strange things are happening with the zucchini this year...both here and at my sister's.  We are used to having a run of male flowers before the female ones bloom.  This year the girls are out early and we both have zucchini happening. We reckon it is the wonderful rain we have had.

And to top it all off, the beans are beaning.

If all this isn't bliss,
I don't know what is.

  5. Wow, you weren't wrong about your veggies, Hazel - everything's looking so happy! What type of early tomatoes have you got there? Our tomatoes still only have small fruit...the largest is the size of an apricot. And how many pumpkin plants are a lot? :)

  7. Dear anonymoua...Why not come tomorrow? Hehehe.

Ali we would happily offer you real accomodation but you will have to build your own ark to travel down by the sound of it!

Mark you need to pop over to take some summery photos.

Christine...I grew grosse lisse, Mortgage buster and mixed heirloom from seed. The two early fruiters I bought as seedlings and lost the tags. Pumpkins...I have about 25 plants at the moment. I think that is a lot...
