My photo
Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Bye bye bridge

In the Black Saturday bush fires (7th February, 2009) the bridge across the King Parrot Creek to the town's general store was damaged.  Work is about to begin on replacing the bridge and a new temporary one is being erected to the North while the new bridge is built. I suppose this has nothing to do with the usual content of this blog but wanted to share these photos.

  1. Fabulous photos again Hazel. I hope someone will be creative enough to use the bridge timber for something other than firewood. The bolts have potential, perhaps a crocheted bolt cover?

  2. I thought you might have some snow photos today, Hazel.

  3. tThe wood from the bridge is being salvaged for later use when someone has a good idea. Maybe in the New Community House?

I didn't even go out today...except to get firewood. Not snow for this little Hazel.

  4. Mmmm....don't suppose there could be some wooden scraps for the borders of my new vegetable garden beds?? Three metre lengths would be perfect?!

  5. I have lived in the area for almost two years now, so I did not have the opportunity to see the original bridge. These photographs must be of local historical importance as I have not been able to find any others. Thank you for recording a piece of history.
