I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

Propagating a plan

This is the area behind the shed next to the neighbours fence.  The last owner of this property had the recycling gene and collected all sorts of stuff and reused it.  He used pipes like these to make the frame over the veggie garden and covered it with bird netting.  When he left he took a lot with him...but not all of it.  Next door's rose was also making this area difficult to enter.  So today I took to the rose with the secateurs and long handled loppers.

So this is what it looks like now.  I also moved some of the piping from the middle to the left of the picture.

Now imagine a little bit more tidying up and some plastic draped down and around those mesh shelves.  Don't you think this is going to make a great place to grow seedlings?  It gets lovely morning sun and the metal mesh will allow me to water freely.

And this is my propagation table, just around the corner from the shelves and sheltered under a big tree, with ready access to the tank for water.  I will be able to put containers with seed raising mix etc underneath.

  1. Looks like a good plan Hazel! I like your description in the header of living thoughtfully. Nicely put.
