We found a cage on our front door this morning with two chooks in it. They are Isa Browns with bedraggled feathers and and clipped beaks.
Perhaps they have been persecuted and locked up in servitude but have now somehow escaped and evaded recapture. Maybe chook traffickers have assisted them. Whatever, now they are hiding out in our chicken shed and enjoying the garden and the freedom to be chooks.
The established residents seem somewhat suspicious of the new arrivals. Only a little malice has been shown towards them but the two groups seem to prefer to spend time foraging apart.
Putting them to bed tonight in the same shed was somewhat difficult and very funny. It was a pity we didn't have a video camera set up. Suffice to say, we would have had a good chance at winning Funniest Home Videos with the footage.
Ha ha I thought they were Eyes are Brown!
ReplyDeleteDid they come down the river by boat?
Thie eyes ARE brown! And there have been a couple of full sized brown eggs, so I think they are laying too.
