Australia
I ran away from teaching to the country to grow veggies. There are also some chooks and a pair of troublesome goats who were so much trouble they had to go! My simple green life isn't always as simple or as green as I'd like...but I keep trying!

The lengths I have to go to!

The curcubits I grew from seed were bursting out of their little homes in the greenhouse.  They had to be planted outside...where the chooks can't get them.

You may remember this.

It was lucky I just happened to have some bird netting in the shed.

Though I think it is really ridiculous to have to go to this much trouble to keep the girls out when the fence is taller than me, and has a gate. They just flap-up over it.

Potimaron - pumpkins, stars and moon watermelon, Melbourne Market canteloupe, greyzini, and luffa.
I will pop some beans along the fence...if I can get in there to plant them!  I might go the whole hog and plant some corn too.  You know, keeping it in the family.

  1. No way- they jump that?! You need to get yourself some silkies they can't fly. Actually you probably wouldn't find them satisfactory - every single one of mine is broody at the moment. I have had to buy eggs.
Now I know what luffa is. But greyzini?

  4. If you clip their wings Hazel, will they still be able to roost in the Roosting Tree?
Great construction, particularly the inclusion of the ladder - hope it is successful! HDW
